Impact of Livelihoods Projects: Stock-taking of Agriculture and Rural Development Initiatives

This study examines the impact and lessons learnt from a livelihoods project funded by the World Bank in seven states of India.

Background
The stock-taking exercise focused on identifying the impacts and lessons from the Word Bank-funded livelihood projects in seven Indian states including Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu. The study focused on identifying key indicators that can enable a comparative assessment of the impact across projects. Two thematic studies focused on sources of financial capitalization, and the development of social capital that ultimately impacts the effectiveness and sustainability of these projects.
