As part of AVPN’s South Asia Social Investment Summit 2022, LEAD participated in a closed-door roundtable. Bhat (CEO, Friends of Women’s World Banking), Ajaita Shah (CEO, Frontier Markets), Srinivas Ramanujam (CEO, Villgro Innovations Foundation), Julia Karst (Head of Project, ‘Her & Now’, GIZ), Pradnya Godbole (CEO, DeAsra), Shehzia Lilani (Country Director – India, Amani Institute) and Sushma Kaushik (Partner, Aavishkar).

The panel analysed challenges navigated by India’s women entrepreneurs and co-produced a shared understanding essential to catalyse entrepreneurship development in the context. Highlighting critical gaps in current research, the dialogue explored the landscape of women entrepreneurship locally with a focus on urban & peri-urban India, investigated barriers faced and showcased best practices/innovations that can drive change.
