As part of AVPN’s South Asia Social Investment Summit 2022, LEAD participated in a closed-door roundtable. The discussion featured leading experts from policy, philanthropy and industry including Sharon Buteau (Executive Director, LEAD), Tristan Ace (Chief Product Officer, AVPN), Aloka Majumdar (Head of Corporate Sustainability, HSBC), Maneesha Chadha (Head of Grant Programs for APAC, JP Morgan India), Chetna Sinha (Founder & President, Mann Deshi Foundation), Dhruvi Shah (CEO, Axis Bank Foundation), Ankita Kumar (Head of CSR, Amazon), S.S. Bhat (CEO, Friends of Women’s World Banking), Ajaita Shah (CEO, Frontier Markets), Srinivas Ramanujam (CEO, Villgro Innovations Foundation), Julia Karst (Head of Project, ‘Her & Now’, GIZ), Pradnya Godbole (CEO, DeAsra), Shehzia Lilani (Country Director – India, Amani Institute) and Sushma Kaushik (Partner, Aavishkar).

The panel analysed challenges navigated by India’s women entrepreneurs and co-produced a shared understanding essential to catalyse entrepreneurship development in the context. Highlighting critical gaps in current research, the dialogue explored the landscape of women entrepreneurship locally with a focus on urban & peri-urban India, investigated barriers faced and showcased best practices/innovations that can drive change.
