About IWWAGE:
Institute for What Works to Advance Gender Equality (IWWAGE) is an initiative of LEAD, an action-oriented research centre of IFMR Society (a not-for-profit society registered under the Societies Act). LEAD has strategic oversight and brand support from Krea University (sponsored by IFMR Society) to enable synergies between academia and the research centre. IWWAGE aims to build and deepen evidence around the low participation of women in the economy – caused by low asset base, poor access to public services, restrictive gender norms, and the burden of unpaid work – to find solutions to inform gender transformative changes and policy reforms.

Background:
The Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana -National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) given its focus on building women’s groups, and developing cluster-based livelihoods options. Organised collectives of women build women’s agency and their empowerment. NRLM’s objective for women federations is to serve as institutional bases for multi-sectoral outcomes for poor women – social and economic. This offers the opportunity to assess and scale institutional mechanisms and forms for gender equality and women’s empowerment at the grassroots. Accordingly, the objective of this program of work is to strengthen NRLM’s and select SRLMs’ focus on gender strategically, and ensure tested approaches to gender integration and transformation with federations are institutionalised, and scaled up through strategic state level partnerships.
IWWAGE is currently a learning and technical partner to DAY NRLM which aims to enable:
- Operationalisation of standardised, evidence-backed capacity building for staff and cadres on gender equality, concepts, action and interventions;
- Developing a non-negotiable, universal approach to establish functional community-level institutions from (village-level to block-level) for strengthening feminist leadership and engendering development planning;
- Forging partnerships between NMMU and SMMUs National Mission Management Units (NMMU) and State Mission Management Units (SMMUs) for developing learning sites to demonstrate impact of community-level institutions in delivering women’s empowerment;
- Mainstreaming evidence-based MLE for informing policies for gender integration within the program.
In this context, IWWAGE is seeking applications for the position of Training Coordinator for providing program support to the effective management of gender programs by contributing in the program design, formulation, monitoring and implementation.
Key Responsibilities:
The Training Coordinator will work closely with NRLM, SRLMs and Cadres to train and build capacity on Gender Equality to ensure effective implementation. The Training Coordinator will help in developing capacity building knowledge pieces and ensure effective operationalisation of modules across the NRLM, SRLM system and community.
S/he will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Lead capacity building efforts with frequent travel to SMMUs, DMMUs and BMMUs and federation level staff for improved functionality and efficiency;
- Understand the training needs of the NRLM ecosystem and design training calendar with NIRD&PR for effective delivery;
- Ensure pedagogies that help in retention of training content;
- Review training content prepared by NRP/States/experts;
- Collect feedback and share the analysis and incorporate feedback for quality improvement of training;
- Analyse pre and post-test and use the findings for effective management of training;
- Support NRLM and SRLMs in developing a resource pool at national, state, district and block levels who support and drive the capacity building efforts for mainstreaming gender;
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and liaise with Resource Persons (NRPs, SRPs, DRPs) to conduct training;
- Provide technical support for the development of integrated gender modules; IEC material; and documentation efforts;
- Work closely with the Ministry of Rural Development and NIRD&PR on capacity building efforts;
- Ensure effective management of TOTs in close collaboration with NIRD≺
- Review Annual Work Plan for training of the States and provide timely support;
- Undertake frequent field travels as per the training calendar;
- Design dipstick to measure effectiveness of training sessions, tool kit and materials;
- Monitor quality of training and undertake mid-course correction;
- Lead national and regional capacity building workshops/writeshops.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Master’s degree preferably in Gender Equality, Women’s Studies, Rural Management, Sociology, Management Graduate and any related field.
- Twelve Years of relevant experience and at least 8+ years’ experience of working on a Trainer٫ Training Facilitator or other relevant position.
- High levels of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and internet applications.
- Demonstrated excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated experience in managing huge programs on gender, working with SHGs and their federations.
- Proficiency in developing training knowledge resource and conducting training in Hindi and English would be added advantage.
Skills and Attributes:
- Significant experience in coordinating multiple training events.
- Significant experience with learning management systems and web delivery tools.
- Good experience of providing complete full training cycle٫ assessing needs٫ plan٫ develop٫ coordinate٫ monitor and evaluate.
- Possess deep understanding of the functioning of the DAY-NRLM and its implementation in State and districts.
- Ability to liaise with SRLMs.
- Demonstrate ability to coordinate several activities simultaneously.
- Self-driven and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrates openness to change and ability to manage complexities.
- Promotes a knowledge sharing and learning culture in the office.
- Good in reading, writing and speaking skills in English, Hindi is a must and regional languages are desirable.
- Willingness to travel and flexibility to work on a wide range of tasks.
