About IWWAGE:

Institute for What Works to Advance Gender Equality (IWWAGE) aims to build on existing research and generate new evidence to inform and facilitate the agenda of women’s economic empowerment. IWWAGE is an initiative of LEAD, an action-oriented research centre of IFMR Society (a not-for-profit society registered under the Societies Act). LEAD has strategic oversight and brand support from Krea University (sponsored by IFMR Society) to enable synergies between academia and the research centre.

Key Functions/Responsibilities: 

The Senior Communications Coordinator will play a key role in advancing IWWAGE’s communication objectives. Working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, the individual will support the development, documentation, and dissemination of communication and knowledge products. The role also includes responsibility for event management, digital outreach and supporting media engagement, under the direction of the Head – Communication and External Engagement.

Communication & Outreach:

  • Support Head – Communication and External Engagement to implement communication strategies to enhance the visibility of IWWAGE’s work;
  • Write and edit blogs, press releases, policy briefs, reports and promotional materials;
  • Manage content creation for the website, social media, newsletters, and other digital platforms.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Document program activities, including case studies, stories of change, good practices and lessons learned;
  • Prepare high-quality publications, reports, and presentations for internal and external audiences;
  • Support the development of donor and stakeholder reports, including progress updates.

Event Management & Coordination:

  • Assist in planning and executing events, workshops, webinars, and training sessions, etc;
  • Develop both design and content for event-related collaterals;
  • Provide logistical and content support for internal meetings, conferences, and public engagements.

Content Creation & Design:

  • Develop engaging content including infographics, videos, articles, and  multimedia assets;
  • Coordinate with graphic designers and media professionals to ensure visual coherence;
  • Maintain consistency with the organisation’s branding and messaging guidelines.

Knowledge Management:

  • Manage and regularly update the organisation’s knowledge repository;
  • Analyse and synthesise data from multiple sources to inform content development and strategy;
  • Facilitate information-sharing across internal teams and with partners.

Media & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Build and maintain relationships with media representatives and communication partners;
  • Engage with partners to amplify messages and increase the impact of communication efforts.

Qualifications and Experience:

Education:

  • Master’s degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Communication Studies, Development Communication or related field.

Experience:

  • At least 5-6 years of professional experience in communication, knowledge management, documentation, or related fields;
  • Proven experience in writing, editing, and producing high-quality content for various platforms;
  • Experience with social media management and digital content creation;
  • Experience in developing communication strategies and knowledge products.

Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English and Hindi);
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Working knowledge of graphic and multimedia tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva);
  • Familiarity with website management tools (e.g., WordPress) and email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp);
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, and deliver under tight deadlines.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in the non-profit, development, or gender-related sectors;
  • Strong organisational and project management skills;
  • Experience with video production, photography, or other multimedia formats;
  • Willing to travel within country, including remote locations (as and when required);
  • Ability to be agile, and work with tight deadlines.
