This study investigates the impact the combination of a livelihood program with a health program on the ability of low-income households to escape health-income poverty traps.
Background
This study uses a randomized controlled trial to evaluate an intervention that combines a livelihood program that offers a grant, in the form of a productive asset, with a health program that provides health linkages, information and advice, to the ultra-poor population in West Bengal, India. The researchers seek to understand whether the combination of programs can help households escape a health-income poverty trap.
