Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning Support for CGIAR’s GENDER Platform

As part of this project, LEAD is providing technical inputs on Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning to CGIAR’s GENDER platform initiative.

Background

Women and girls account for nearly 50% of the agricultural workforce in developing countries. And yet, they continue to face significant obstacles and constraints such as lack of access to training, assets, and new technology, in addition to the disproportionate burden of unpaid care work. CGIAR’s newly launched GENDER Platform seeks to end hunger through a science-driven transformation of food, land and water systems in the context of climate change, by reimagining the CGIAR gender-research-for-development agenda. CGIAR envisions a new era in which food systems transformation and gender equality reinforce one another, accelerating and amplifying benefits that are equitable, sustainable and lasting.

The GENDER Platform’s activities are organised into three modules – Evidence, Methods and Alliances. The Evidence module is anchored by the International Rice Research Institute.

Approach

LEAD is providing technical inputs for developing an evidence hub in the Platform resource center, undertaking a systematic review and identification of evidence gaps on gender in agriculture, and developing the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Plan for the Evidence Module.
