Host: LEAD at Krea University
The COVID-19 pandemic has deepened the shadows of another issue – domestic violence. Emerging data points towards a rise in instances of violence against women and girls as a result of sustained lockdown measures, loss of economic activity and limited mobility. In light of this worrying trend, LEAD organised a three-part webinar series on gender-based violence in the context of COVID-19 and beyond. The series is part of an ongoing research program to address gender-based violence, supported by the Ford Foundation.
The first event featured an exclusive conversation between noted social activist and poet Kamla Bhasin and Dr. Swarnamalya Ganesh. The conversation touched upon the root causes and contributing factors for gender-based violence and how these manifest in various forms of violence.
