What role do small loans play in fostering entrepreneurship and driving economic growth? LEAD, in collaboration with the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, India, shared findings from a three-year longitudinal study on the impact of credit access for nearly 1,800 nano-entrepreneurs and their businesses in India at the Global Inclusive Finance Summit, organised by ACCESS Development Services.
Our Executive Director, Sharon Buteau, presented key insights from the study, which was conducted in partnership with six Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) investees of the Dell Foundation. The study examined trends in business performance, employment, well-being, entrepreneurship, and the formalisation of these businesses. A panel discussion followed, focusing on the impact of credit, business outcomes, and policy recommendations to better support this sector.
