National Gender Campaign 2.0

IWWAGE, LEAD at Krea University

May 2024

The Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM), has spearheaded gender-focused initiatives aimed at addressing inequalities and promoting gender equality since 2016. Among these efforts is “Nayi Chetna – Pahal Badlav Ki,” a month-long nationwide campaign launched to raise awareness and foster community participation against Gender-Based Violence (GBV). Building on the success of its inaugural year, the second iteration, “Nayi Chetna 2.0 – Sahenge Nahi, Kahenge, Chuppi Todenge,” delves deeper into the complexities of GBV.

This assessment report anchored by IWWAGE with LEAD at Krea University, provides a comprehensive evaluation of the reach, relevance, and effectiveness of the Nayi Chetna 2.0 campaign across states. It highlights the intensive efforts of various states and Line Ministries at both national and state levels to engage grassroots communities effectively. The findings demonstrate the campaign’s success in mobilising a diverse cross-section of society while emphasising the critical need for sustained initiatives to combat gender-based violence.
