About the Position:
The successful candidate will be part of the research that maps the price volatility in the rice supply chain across major rice-growing states, namely West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu. Based on interviews from the primary survey, the Research Associate will try to map the interconnectedness and the role of various stakeholders across markets. Using secondary sources from the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, the Government of India and the Directorate of Marketing & Inspection (DMI), the study analyses the monthly wholesale and retail prices and tries to explain the volatility in terms of differences in institutional mechanisms of price support programmes across several Indian states.
Key Requirements:
- The Research Associate should be based out of Andhra Pradesh, working in the area of agriculture and is familiar with the rice-growing regions of Andhra Pradesh.
- The candidate is expected to travel to 2-3 districts of Andhra Pradesh during September-December and conduct interviews to understand and map the supply chain of paddy farmers in the state.
