About LEAD at Krea University: 

LEAD is an action-oriented research centre of IFMR Society (a not-for-profit society registered under the Societies Act), leverages the power of research, innovation and co-creation to solve complex and pressing challenges in development. LEAD specialises in developing in-depth granular understanding of socio-economic contexts and harnessing actionable insights that have a wide range of applications in industry, policy, and academia. STREE is a technical assistance initiative spearheaded by LEAD at Krea University in collaboration with (DAY-NRLM), which aims to drive women-led enterprise development, with research at the core of its work.

About the Position:

We are seeking an MIS – Monitoring and Evaluation Consultant at NMMU to support the NRLM/NMMU Team in institutionalising mechanisms that will ensure the management of timely data collection and updating in the DAY-NRLM system (MIS), analyse the data. The candidate will be responsible for sharing it with SRLMs and other designated ministries and departments in line with the approval of DAY-NRLM for timely decision-making and to improve the quality of the program for non-farm implementation.

Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure operationalising and smooth functioning of the MIS at the State Mission Management Unit (SMMU), District Mission Management Unit (DMMU), and Block Mission Management Unit (BMMU) levels;
  • Review the data on a monthly basis and provide the analysis of the same at both the national and state levels. They would, in particular, play a major role in the collation and consolidation of data from different components of NRLM/NMMU to provide need-based information to the program team and senior officers for timely decision-making;
  • Provide support in developing comprehensive and realistic monitoring plans and strategies with appropriate data sources, collection methods, analysis plans, quality controls and resource requirements;
  • Provide support to SRLMs and NRLM in systematic data collection, and report across thematic areas, as well as inter departmental coordination;
  • Assist in documenting progress against project implementation plans, results matrix, milestones and targets and compiling quarterly and yearly reports;
  • Perform other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of NRLM;
  • Develop guidance notes, guidelines and other documents at the National level for supporting program implementation;
  • Coordinate with the NRLM MIS and IT team and get an MIS system developed for all non-farm livelihood interventions that is an integral part of the NRLM MIS and dashboard.

Qualifications and Key Requirements: 

  • Candidates with a full time two years postgraduate degree / diploma in Management, Computer Applications, Statistics, Development Studies, Social Work or related field from an institute of national and international repute; 
  • 5-8 years of work experience at a middle management level of working in the area of monitoring and evaluation, MIS development, management, especially on livelihoods, preferably non-farm livelihoods;
  • High levels of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet applications;
  • Demonstrated excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.

Preferences:

  • Experience of managing programs in non-farm livelihoods promotion for rural poor and/or experience in enterprise promotion, business advisory services, forward and backward linkages;
  • Track record of working with rural areas and promoting non-farm livelihoods of rural communities;
  • Experience of working with various groups, like SHGs, producer companies, joint liability groups, etc.; 
  • Experience handling large data and its analysis;
  • Experience with the monitoring and evaluation of the project;
  • Experience working at mid-level management and leading a team.
