After completing dual undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering and International Development from Bucknell University, Abhay co-founded Bicycles Against Poverty, a CBO in Northern Uganda, working on appropriate technology and development models. Previously, he served as an engineering consultant to the Small Business Development Centre in Pennsylvania and an operations analyst for Goldman Sachs. He also remains involved in the manufacturing sector in West Bengal.
Abhay joined the organization in August 2009 as a Research Associate for an impact evaluation of the Ultra Poor Program in West Bengal, and has worked on a study involving Domestic Remittance Transfers. He is currently involved in various research and policy advocacy initiatives.
After completing BSC in Statistics from University of Calcutta in 2010, Abhishek did MSC in Statistics from University of Kalyani in 2012. Prior to IFMR, Abhishek has worked in Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata. He worked in two projects of ISI, one was ?IISCO-SAIL Burnpur Corporate Social Responsibility? project and the other was ?Handloom Development Program in Dakhsin Dinajpur District of West Bengal?. Abhishek joined IFMR as a program associate on February, 2014. He is currently working on two projects titled “Data link Initiative” and “Water Ces Act Implementation”.
Advitha joined IFMR LEAD as a Research Associate in May 2016, after completing her internship here. Prior to this, she has interned with Frost & Sullivan and Goldman Sachs. Her research interests include development economics, gender economics and public policy. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Stella Maris College, Chennai.
Alreena works with IFMR LEAD as Research Associate on a public health RCT studying Mental Health, Productivity and Child Investment in Peri-Urban Bangalore and a microfinance study on Repayment Flexibility, Contract Choice and Investment Decisions among Indian Microfinance Borrowers in the state of Uttar Pradesh. She has also been involved in various other RCTs and short-term evaluations for AKRSP (I) and The Banyan. She has field experience in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka. Alreena holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai after which she worked as Research Assistant at the Centre for Development Economics, Delhi School of Economics on the EU-funded “NO POOR Project” studying the dynamics and dimensions of Indian urban poverty. She has previously interned with ToolBox India Foundation and Save The Children – India. She is also a practicing Bharat Natyam Dancer.

Andre works to pursue new knowledge in overcoming the threats posed by a changing climate on achieving food security and enhancing livelihoods, while improving environmental management.
Andre holds a PhD the field of climate change science from the University of Edinburgh where he worked as part of a multidisciplinary research project, Tropical Biomes in Transition (TROBIT), aimed at gaining a better understanding of vegetation – climate change interactions. Prior to joining the organization, Andre worked as a visiting scientist at the International Crop Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) in Mali, where he was affiliated with the CGIAR Research Programme on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS).
Anisha is a Research Associate with the Financial Inclusion vertical at IFMR LEAD. She has worked on a diverse range of projects from adoption of innovative healthcare products, impact evaluation of a non-banking financial institution to an evaluation of a training program for women workers. She has previously worked with Evidence for Development, where she worked with the household economy approach to measure food poverty and evaluate aid decisions in rural Africa. She has a Master’s degree in Social Cognition from University College London and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics with a minor in Psychology. She is interested in a behavioural economics approach to rural development and particularly in savings decisions in these areas.
