About the Role

The Financial Inclusion Vertical at LEAD is seeking a consultant on a short-term basis, starting immediately. The duration of the consultancy will be 2 months (Dec’20 – Jan’21) with  potential for long-term hiring based on performance.  

The consultant will be engaged on an on-going project, and will be responsible for conducting  secondary research, data analysis and expert interviews. This position is ideal for those who are  seeking to pursue a career in research, academia and public policy. The project looks into the  clean-cooking sector across six developing countries.  
Background and Qualifications


  • Master’s Degree in Economics, Finance, Environment Economics/Policy/Science,  Development Studies, or related field is mandatory; with a minimum of 2 years of  significant related work experience post Masters.  
  • Experience working with statistical analysis packages (e.g. SPSS, STATA, R) preferred.

Work Experience 

  • Previous experience in development research or work in developing countries of at least  2 years is strongly preferred with special preference to projects with focus on  environment and health.
  • Experience and maturity in relationship management.
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and supervise 1-2 individuals.

Key Competencies / Attributes 

  • Fluency in English required; fluency in another Indian language is strongly preferred 
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Flexibility and ability to deal with uncertainty. Adaptability to project needs and  schedules.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple projects, to be well organized and detail  oriented.
