Digital Solutions for SHGs in Chhattisgarh – The COVID-19 Pandemic: Project Modifications and Learnings

Initiative for What Works to Advance Women and Girls in the Economy, an initiative of LEAD, is working with the Chhattisgarh State Rural Livelihoods Mission (SRLM) and Haqdarshak Empowerment Solutions Private Limited (HESPL) to train SHG members on a digital application, which can enhance their livelihood options. This learning note presents insights on the implementation process and includes the adaptations and modifications incorporated as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak. 

Business Readiness Scorecard for Women

Gauging business readiness of women-led enterprises in the informal sector by assessing their performance is key to enable policy support in terms of identifying best practices, creating market linkages, and targeting skilling initiatives. The Business Readiness Scorecard for Women-Handloom and Handicrafts Sector (WBRS-HHS) is a data-driven diagnostic tool, which attempts to identify key constraints and high-performance areas for home-based enterprises in the handloom and handicrafts sectors of India. The WBRS tool was developed as a result of data collected from 800 home-based women entrepreneurs in four districts each, in Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu. It assesses the readiness of women entrepreneurs on their ability and preparedness to sustain and scale their current business portfolio across economic as well as social, cultural and behavioural parameters.

Making Digital Finance Work for Women: Insights from an Innovative Training Program for MFI Clients

This brief captures insights from an awareness generation and training program for MFI clients. The publication was developed as part of a multi-year capacity building program undertaken by LEAD and Sa-Dhan (Association of Community Development Finance Institutions), with assistance from HSBC. The training intervention aims at improving awareness and confidence among MFI clients in the use of various digital financial products and services, through a multi-pronged approach using presentations, videos, and games.

Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission

The Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM) under the NAPCC was launched in 2010 with the objective of achieving grid parity by the year 2022. It aimed at the deployment of 20,000 MW of grid connected and 2,000 MW of off-grid solar power during the three phases of its operative period. The achievements of the JNNSM up to February 2015 by segment have been tracked in this brief. Key challenges faced by the solar sector in the country have also been identified, in an attempt to understand the reasons behind the same and to recommend effective mitigative strategies.This is one of the eight-brief series prepared as part of the Study titled `Implementation of the National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC) – Progress & Evaluation’.

National Mission for Enhanced Energy Efficiency

The overall of goal of the National Mission for Enhanced Energy Efficiency (NMEEE) is to ensure that in the context of providing increasing energy to meet the demands of a growing population, EE is promoted using various approaches and incentives. This brief succinctly discusses the components of the NMEEE in terms of their progress and departures from Mission design.
