The Government of India (GoI), in 2008, released the National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC), which represents the country’s initial attempt at preparing a deliberate and coordinated national response to climate change. In order to channelize its agenda on this front, the GoI established eight national missions under the NAPCC. Implementation of these missions requires the design of new policies and creation of new institutional mechanisms. The objective of this Study was to facilitate effective implementation of these national missions. This includes the development of a sound framework to monitor and track progress and identify practices that facilitate successful implementation.

At the final stage of the study, the team presented the key findings of the study at a policy workshop held at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi to several stakeholders including Ministry officials, sector experts, academicians and civil society. In addition to a focused discussion on the progress achieved by the National Missions, this workshop also deliberated on the way forward for the NAPCC by gathering perspectives from a panel of key stakeholders.
