CDF is developing a market data quality and information dissemination standard for India’s cities to ensure that investors have adequate information to quickly and easily assess risk on an ongoing basis and respond accordingly. Such disclosure standards are an important part of market infrastructure and in some cases also lower the borrower’s cost of accessing finance. The standard is modelled on existing financial disclosure standards, in particular the International Monetary Fund’s Special Data Dissemination Standard (SDDS), a decade-old set of quality and dissemination guidelines countries seeking access to international capital markets. This project is sponsored by the Government of India High Powered Expert Committee on Urban Infrastructure chaired by Dr. Isher Ahluwalia.
