About the Position: 

We are seeking a dedicated candidate with a background in Data Science/Computer Science to join our interdisciplinary research team. The ideal candidate should work with the team to build the capacity to undertake advanced data analytics and machine learning problems. The assignment includes data analysis and data visualisation related to the intersectionality of mental health and socio-economic factors. Background in Neuroscience will be viewed favourably. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and execute projects on data analytics, data innovations, and machine learning;
  • Develop concepts on advanced data analytics and innovative data collection methods; 
  • Work with other LEAD verticals to build the analytics body of work; 
  • Contribute to dissemination and outreach activities, such as reports, articles, blogs, collaboration at events, etc.; 
  • Work with the team to build capacity to undertake advanced data analytics and machine learning problems; 
  • Use machine learning methods to analyse the EEG and MRI data; 
  • Identify and collaborate with strategic partners to expand the data innovations agenda of LEAD;
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of researchers, including neuroscientists, psychologists, sociologists, economists and data science experts; 
  • Analyse EEG and MRI data to study brain activity and structures related to mental health conditions; 
  • Develop and implement experimental protocols and data analysis methodologies; 
  • Build machine learning models based on the data; 
  • Interpret, present, and publish research findings in scientific meetings, journals, and other academic forums; 
  • Contribute to the development of new research hypotheses and projects based on data findings; 
  • Assist in the preparation of research reports, grant applications, and publications. 

Key Qualifications and Requirements: 

  • PhD in Data Science/Computer Science or a related field with 3-5 years of relevant work experience; 
  • Candidates with a Master’s degree and relevant experience of 5-10 years will also be considered; 
  • Experience with Python and R packages (NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, MNE) related to neuroimaging and statistical analysis tools. Experience with high-performance computing is a plus; 
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team; 
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information clearly; 
  • A strong record of academic achievement and research experience; 
  • Strong background in Neuroscience, particularly in the analysis of EEG and MRI data; 
  • Understanding of socio-economic factors and mental health.
