About IWWAGE: 

Institute for What Works to Advance Gender Equality (IWWAGE) aims to build and deepen evidence around the low participation of women in the economy – caused by low asset base, poor access to public services, restrictive gender norms, and the burden of unpaid work – to find solutions to inform gender transformative changes and policy reforms. 

IWWAGE is an initiative of LEAD, an action-oriented research centre of IFMR Society (a not for profit society registered under the Societies Act). LEAD has strategic oversight and brand support from Krea University (sponsored by IFMR Society) to enable synergies between academia and the research centre. 

About the Position: 

Do you have a knack for weaving powerful stories and exceptional writing skills? Are you fluent in navigating the digital landscape and can make content stand out on online platforms? In this entrepreneurial role, the Communications Associate will play a creative, dynamic part in executing our communications strategy. The Associate will be supervised by Manager, Learning & Communications, and work in close coordination with the senior staff and other team members.

Key Responsibilities:

Communications

  • Work closely with the Learning & Communications Manager and team to support in executing IWWAGE’s communication strategy, including digital communications strategy for website and social media channels.
  • Help create engaging social media content, including visuals, graphics, GIFs, videos, and stories. Identity and develop similar assets for the web and assist in helping elevate the overall digital presence of the organisation. 
  • Draft, edit, and update the website content, including projects, publications details, resources, and job boards.
  • Build and manage a repository of multimedia and communication assets including videos, illustrations, stock and commissioned images.

Content Production and Outreach 

  • Assist in creating and distributing email marketing campaigns, including internal and external newsletters. 
  • Manage mailing lists and contacts for the organisation.
  • Undertake formatting and low touch designing of marketing and communications products such as leaflets, policy briefs, posters, presentations as per branding protocols.
  • Coordinate with internal team and vendors for design and printing of publications and collaterals.
  • Assist in rephrasing and editing content for learning outputs and publications ranging from blogs to full reports.
  • Undertake all the above tasks under the supervision of the Learning & Communications Manager and senior team.

Background, Qualifications, and Skill Sets

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, literature or related fields.
  • Excellent communication skills with a strong flair for writing for a variety of audiences.
  • 3-4 years of prior experience in a communications role.
  • Experience in using software and digital applications such as Mailchimp, WordPress, Adobe Suite and Canva.
  • Self-starter, entrepreneurial and dynamic with the ability to work creatively under limited supervision.
  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines and balance competing priorities.
