REPORTING TO: Lead- IBCB at NRLM, Ministry of Rural Development
ASSIGNMENT LENGTH: Three Years (Yearly contract renewable annually subject to the availability of funds)
SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience


We are seeking a motivated Documentation Specialist, Centre for Excellence for Women’s Economic Collectives (CEWEC) for the Initiative for What Works to Advance Women and Girls in the Economy (“IWWAGE”) at IFMR LEAD. The objective of this Initiative is to create a platform to promote, synthesize and generate evidence on “what works” for women’s economic empowerment. Under IWWAGE, we have set up a Centre of Excellence to drive Women’s Empowerment Collectives. CEWEC is a learning platform on evidence-based empowerment approaches and models of institutionalized gender and empowerment social infrastructure at multiple levels of governance in the livelihoods mission, and as a hub or resource base of SHG institutions and their approaches.

Position Summary

The Documentation Specialist will be placed within National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM), Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) under the supervision of Lead IBCB, Ministry of Rural Development. She will be responsible for managing all documentation work associated with NRLM’s and State Rural Livelihoods Mission (SRLMs) gender focused initiatives.


•      Technical support to NRLM and select SRLMs for strengthening their communication and documentation framework for gender interventions across levels;
•      Support NRLM officials to prepare quarterly progress report, annual progress report and other reporting requirements;
•      Prepare communication strategy and tools;
•      Work closely with the specialists at NRLM/SRLMs and other officials to strengthen results management and reporting;
•      Ensure effective documentation, visibility and knowledge management;
•      Support NRPs and state teams in preparing concept notes and other project related documents;
•      Support programme staff in organizing and managing seminars, workshops, conferences etc.;
•      Support in the monitoring and learning agenda of the SRLMs and NRLM vis-à-vis gender integration;
•      Produce reports of the seminars/workshops organised by the project;
•      Document processes and success stories from the field;
•      Provide technical support to the project team in producing various evaluation;
•      Support development of training, IEC materials, and provide knowledge management support;
•      Ensure proper documentation of the communications materials and knowledge products;
•      Expected travel- Up to 40-50% of time;
•      Perform any other duties assigned by the project management unit as per the need of the programme.


•      Required 6-8 years of experience in gender focused programmes, self-help group initiatives and projects;
•      Post graduate degree in Journalism, development studies; gender studies; Social Work, public policy or related subjects; or any other equivalent degree
•      Strong understanding of MIS, monitoring and evaluation mechanism and systesms;
•      Should have experience in working with large scale, complex gender based programmes across different geographies and with different donors;
•      Required at least 2 years of experience in Knowledge management and documentation
•      Experience in working with SHGs federations/ similar institutions is a must;
•      Experience with NRLM/SRLMs is highly desirable;
•      Excellent networking and relationship-building skills and the ability to interact with stakeholders and partner, both public and private.
•      Excellent communication skills (oral and written) in English and Hindi.
